Huddersfield Canal Society open day

To celebrate open heritage days, the Huddersfield Canal Society will be opening up its headquarters, the Transhipment Warehouse, to the public.

The distinctive early 19th century building on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has undergone major restoration over the years and has been home to the Canal Society since February 2006.

The doors will be open from 11.00am until 3.00pm where visitors can call at their leisure and meet with other members of the society including some of those involved with the society pre-restoration.

Refreshments will also be available.

Having achieved its aim of the restoration of the Huddersfield Narrow canal to through navigation and public use, the Huddersfield Canal Society take an active role in the canal’s future assisting its partners with operational and development initiatives. The society runs a series of events for members and to the public as part of their aim to promote the use of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal for the enjoyment of all.
