WOW volunteers get to grips with the locks in Bath
WOW volunteers attend a training day to plan activities for school groups on the towpath
Eight WOW volunteers spent a sunny morning planning a walk for school groups along the Widcombe flight of locks on the Kennet & Avon Canal in Bath. This stretch of the canal has many interesting historical features and stories to tell. The Georgian splendour of the canal through Sydney Gardens, the mason's marks in the stones of the bridges, the mysterious hole in the roof of the tunnel are just some of the fascinating features to be seen on the route.
The group spent the morning sharing information, learning how the locks work and checking all the safety aspects of the route. They are now looking forward to leading groups of children for walks along the canal on, hopefully, more sunny days!
